Wind Chime Cafe Sophie Moss read online review & book description:

If you listen to the sound of the wind, it will always lead you home...

When single mother Annie Malone purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she's finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Annie's life is about to get a lot more complicated.

Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years, Navy SEAL Will Dozier has no intention of selling his grandparents' property to a developer. As he works on renovating the house and trying to find another buyer, he's forced to face a painful reality--that he's secretly struggling with PTSD. Determined to hide his troubles from the rest of the islanders, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him "get his head straight."

The last thing Will expects is to fall in love...with his hometown and with Annie. But Will's life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie's love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

I absolutely loved this book. The setting spoke to me having vacationed at a lovely B and B out on a point of the Eastern Shore. I had fallen in love this with this area of Maryland and this book brought back such wonderful memories. Sadly the trauma Annie’s daughter experienced is real and watching how Annie helped her daughter was truly beautiful. Finally, being a military family I could easily appreciate the emotions that played out with Will. A beautiful tale told in a way that truly brought me into the book. I love the writing and have immediately purchased the sequel. Looking for a realistic love story that writes of what true love should look like? Then this is the book for you.

  • Stay with it

I almost stopped reading this book because I was put off by the character, Will, in the beginning. I recall one particular thought he had which was something like “even a single mother deserves to have a good time”. His misogynistic personality in the beginning was difficult to take and I’m happy I decided to stay with it and read on. It’s a very good read which addresses real life issues from gun violence to teenage pregnancy. She’s an excellent story teller with cogent subject matter who’s able to grab and keep your attention.

  • Light and adorable

The story was nice, very light weight and adorable. Esp the little kid and the dog. But the ending, I can’t really put my finger on what spoilt it for me. It is a HEA. But all the loose ends were tied and everything had to be the best case for the protagonist. I mean, maybe that spoiled it for me. I think the book should’ve ended couple pages sooner.

So much of this story seems like it could be based on real life, but it was a great read and loved it.

The story line was predictable but I liked the use of wind chimes to set it apart from other similar stories. The characters were believable except perhaps Blake and Della. Regardless, I enjoyed the book and will read more of yours. Thank you
