A Long Goodbye (Southern Comfort-Book 1) Kelly Mooney read online review & book description:

Unable to pretend to be the perfect daughter, marry the perfect Southern gentleman, and have perfect babies like her overprotective father expects her to, Ashton Winslow and her best friend, LuLuBelle set out on a vacation to change all that.

Tired of being told she's perfect and pretending to be someone she isn't, Ashton sets out on a two week journey to reinvent herself. With no one watching her every move, or so she thinks, Ashton finds the one person who finally sees her for the woman she wants to be.

Dane Woods has just come home from fighting overseas after losing his best friend. Everyone, including himself expected him to reenlist for another tour, but he couldn't break a promise he'd made to his dying friend. The last thing Dane has on his mind while tailing a Southern Princess like Ashton Winslow is falling in love. She was supposed to be two week job, but it turns into so much more.

Will Dane risk everything to be with Ashton or will his lies and betrayal destroy her love for him?

  • Great Story Marred By Grammatical Errors

The story was quite good, but I don’t think that it was edited and/or proofread, as there were several annoying errors.

Too bad there aren’t more books like this. I LOVE the way you have the life down the road. After six years of marriage it’s still going strong. Beautiful.

i got addicted to this book and im picky with my books. couldnt put it down. would read 4-6 ch. a night. such a chick flick type of book. i only giv it 4 stars because thre were several editing mistakes but you still understand what its getting at. def. recommend.
  • It was ok

I downloaded this book because of the military aspect and there wasn't really a whole lot of that in there. I also thought that the girls' escape was going to be different than it turned out to be. I thought it was going to be more of taking off and making their own way, instead it was taking off for a two week vacation while Daddy paid a PI to keep tabs on his daughter. While the plot was decent and I enjoyed the chemistry between Dane and Ashton, I'm torn as to how much I liked the book. I honestly did a lot of skimming. There were also a lot of punctuation and grammatical errors, which is a big pet peeve. I think there was great tension, especially when it came to the demands of Ashton's father, however I feel like certain plot points could have been explored and expanded further. Overall, if you're looking for a quick read and you like a love story, check it out.

I liked how he knew right away how he felt. Woody was a GREAT character. I would have given it 5 stars but there WERE a ton of errors in sentencing and grammar. I’m on to the next book. GREAT JOB!

Not sure if the other review for this book was paid or not, but really??? I read the acknowledgements at the end and you really need to get some new folks to check your work. There are many grammar and punctuation mistakes which make it difficult to love the story. The characters were weak and I wanted to smack all of them at least once!
