With more than 3,000 participating vessels, 1994 landings of more than 44 million pounds, and a total ex-vessel value in 1994 of $84 million, the Alaska halibut fishery represents the largest fishery to date for which an individual quota management system has been adopted (ADFG 1995; IPHC 1995).
