Evans v. Heckler United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit read online review & book description:

Martin W. Evans appeals from the order of the district court affirming the Secretarys denial of his claim for disability insurance benefits under Title II of the Social Security Act, 42 U.S.C. §§ 416(i), 423. The district court found that substantial evidence supported the decision by the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) that Evans was not severely impaired and, therefore, was not under a disability as defined by the Act. We disagree and conclude that the district court erred in finding that substantial evidence supported the ALJs decision. Accordingly, we reverse the decision of the district court and remand the case with direction to enter judgment in favor of Evans.
