Touching the Lives of Young Adults: An Interview with Jeannine Garsee (AUTHOR PORTRAIT) (Interview) Teacher Librarian read online review & book description:

Jeannine Garsee's blog, Elusive Sanity (http://onegrapeshy.livejournal.com/), communicates the author's hilariously witty sarcasm to the world. That was enough to charm me into picking up one of the best contemporary novels I have ever read, Before, After, and Somebody in Between (2007). Afterward, I eagerly awaited the arrival of her second novel, Soy the Word (Bloomsbury USA, 2009). Curious about the contrast in the two stories, I talked to Jeannine Garsee about her work: JP: The two main characters in your books live very different lives and have very different outlooks. How did you get into the heads of the hard-knocked Martha and then the "perfect" Shawna?
