Maghreb-Kidnappings (Maghreb-Report) Ed Blanche read online review & book description:

Kidnapping Mayhem in the Maghreb Pierre Camatte, a French aid worker working in Mali, was kidnapped by armed locals in his hotel in the town of Menaka on the night of November 26. They beat him up and sold him the following day to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), the North African affiliate of Osama bin Laden's network. AQIM has been behind most of the kidnappings in recent times as it seeks to expand southward into the "ungoverned spaces" of the Sahel belt and forge a regional Islamist organization.
