Number the Stars Lois Lowry read online review & book description:

As the German troops begin their campaign to "relocate" all the Jews of Denmark, Annemarie Johansen’s family takes in Annemarie’s best friend, Ellen Rosen, and conceals her as part of the family.

Through the eyes of ten-year-old Annemarie, we watch as the Danish Resistance smuggles almost the entire Jewish population of Denmark, nearly seven thousand people, across the sea to Sweden. The heroism of an entire nation reminds us that there was pride and human decency in the world even during a time of terror and war.

Winner of the 1990 Newbery Medal.

I love this book so much, it is backed on real life and I think that kids need to know what the Holocaust is so we do not reap-peat it. Pray for the died...✝️✡️🛐

It was good at telling a story about what it was like living in the occupation and also revolving around bravery and courage

  • Great Book!

The book tells the story of a young Danish girl during WWII, this review may not be as detailed as my other reviews but I’ll try to make it as thorough as possible. Let me just begin by saying, Lois Lowry is an amazing author and funnily enough, my 5th grade teacher was friends with Lois Lowry! Sorry, off topic– I may be a little bias when I say this but I would recommend this book to anyone, and I mean literally anyone... there isn’t a single page in the entire book when I wasn’t urging myself to turn the (electronic) page, there may have been a few moments when I became too invested in the book... such as times when I go to bed reading and wake up with my device still on the same page.... The plot is intriguing and certain parts of the book that put you on the edge of you seat– a truly fascinating book that should be enjoyed by all!

I loved this book. It was written by, in my opinion, one of the greatest writers in American history, but it also has the heart and soul many books lack. One of the greatest books of all time.
