The Last Letter from Your Lover Jojo Moyes read online review & book description:

Major motion picture premiering on Netflix on July 23, starring Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley, and Callum Turner

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Giver of Stars, a sophisticated, page-turning double love story spanning forty years, and an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times

It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband.

Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives. She becomes obsessed by the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career. Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending she will find one to her own complicated love life, too. Ellie's search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance.

A spellbinding, intoxicating love story with a knockout ending, The Last Letter from Your Lover will appeal to the readers who have made One Day and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society bestsellers.

It took a while for the story to pick up steam and really hook me but it was worth it. The back and forth timeline formJennifer’s story in 1960 was a little disjointed at first but it made the conclusion better. I enjoyed the characters in both parts of the story. In the end a feel good read.

Get ready for an interesting ride. At first it was a bit confusing but then it came into its own and was delightful!
  • Good book, but not as great as I had anticipated.

Did not find this as gripping as other books I have read by the same author.

Another one of JoJo’s wonderfully written books. So many twists and turns giving us a look at life and love I enjoyed it thoroughly.
  • Excellent reading!

Rarely do I find a book that I thoroughly enjoy cover to cover... this is one of those few! It was very enjoyable and unpredictably enough (my usual biggest gripe) to keep me interested. A great read!

  • Completely Pulled Me In

This novel is mostly written in the past, during a time when women were expected to keep the house and let the man be the head of it. On the outside, it looks as if Jennifer has the perfect life. She’s married to a wealthy man and has a beautiful house. She keeps up appearances, but what she really wants is to feel loved and share closeness with a man. She’s growing tired of material things. Warning, there are several cases of cheating and affairs from several of the characters. This is a tale of missed opportunities, circumstance, love letters and serendipity.
