Tears of a Tiger Sharon M. Draper read online review & book description:

Andy tackles his guilt and grief in the first book of Sharon M. Draper’s award-winning Hazelwood High trilogy.

Tigers don’t cry—or do they? After the death of his longtime friend and fellow Hazelwood Tiger in a car accident, Andy, the driver, blames himself and cannot get past his guilt and pain. While his other friends have managed to work through their grief and move on, Andy allows death to become the focus of his life. In the months that follow the accident, the lives of Andy and his friends are traced through a series of letters, articles, homework assignments, and dialogues, and it becomes clear that Tigers do indeed need to cry.

The story is sad but realistic. It is a fluid read and very hard to put down. I’ve read this book 2x and it’s still grabs my attention. I’m not an avid reader but this book makes me want to read more. Forged by Fire is next.

I first read this book years ago when I got it for Christmas. I always hated reading, but this, this was different. This isn’t just another book about loss and pain and guilt. No. This book is about the essentials of life. I’m still not a big reader, but this will forever be my favorite book as well as series. And I can’t wait to reread it for the 15th time.
