The Boyfriend Effect Kendall Ryan read online review & book description:

A sexy new series of standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan.

I’m not boyfriend material.

If a trail of broken hearts and a piss-poor record of failed relationships have taught me anything, it’s this. My buddies are happy to give me shit about my latest breakup from here to next Sunday. Thanks, but I’d rather have a root canal.

And a vasectomy.

At the same time.

Relief comes in an unlikely package—the gorgeous and feisty Maren. She just so happens to be my best friend’s sister, so that’s not awkward at all.

But I’m a man on a mission, and Maren is down to teach me all the ways I’ve been failing as a boyfriend. Apparently, there are many. And it’s all very informative—until I start to catch feelings.

Now it’s not just my reputation on the line, but my heart too.

It structure of the book and the wording make it seem like it’s written by a love sick 15 year old. It feels stale and emotionless. I cringe whenever the characters talk about their “sexual tension” about the other character. The characters are shallow and 2 dimensional.

There's something just so appealing about a little bit of the forbidden, like, say, falling for your best friend's sister. That apparently goes against some 'bro code' (don't ask me why, I don't get it), and that is somehow like an undeniable magnetic pull in the world of romance. Case in point, THE BOYFRIEND EFFECT, the first book in the Frisky Business series by author Kendall Ryan. This is not a new trope for Kendall, but she does it very well, so I'm not complaining. I mean, it isn't hard to like Hayes Ellison. He's not had the best luck in the world of dating, and, also, he's harboring a years-long crush on his best friend and business partner's little sister. Danger, Will Robinson...what's a guy to do except give it the old college try, even though he's veritably dying to date the heck out of this girl. Luckily, Hayes is not alone in his feelings, because Maren has a little crush of her own, and it doesn't take much more than realizing this for the ball to get rolling, and sparks to fly. It's sweet, and sexy, and love the way that Kendall does so well. This is a fun and easy read, but I have to admit to really wanting to get to Wolfie's story, because he is a hoot. In the meantime, get the ball rolling with THE BOYFRIEND EFFECT and enjoy your introduction to the friskiest business around. ❤️

What a swoony, fantastic start to a new series by Kendall Ryan! This is the story of Maren and Hayes. There has been chemistry for years. Hayes has watched Maren grown up and his "brotherly" feelings have changed. Hayes has had such bad track record with relationships and women.  He can't seem to figure out what he's doing wrong.   I loved Maren's personality and her character strength, she knows what she wants and will use what she has to get it.  She loves her job and will do anything to save it. I loved the introduction to the new cast of characters and the business that they founded!  The dialogue is witty and the smexy times are so hawt! Swoon overload with this story! I can't wait to see the next story in this series!

The Boyfriend Effect is a best friend's little sister romance featuring Maren and Hayes who have had a secret attraction for each other. Kendal Ryan has created a fun adventure between these characters as Maren attempts to help Hayes understand why he always gets dumped with his relationships. I highly recommend this well written book with its steamy attraction and a fantastic romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This forbidden little sister of my best friend romance was sweetly sexy. Hayes was a serial monogamist, his constant flow of girlfriends ending in breakups had him wondering if he would ever settle down. I liked the way he finally realized that he was hung up on Maren almost his whole life. As with this genre, the climax built up for the big reveal to Maren’s brother. Enjoyable and well written. The opening sequence is down right hilarious, I could not stop laughing throughout this entire scene. This is a great start to this new series, looking forward to the rest of the friend group find their other halves. The storyline between Maren and Hayes is fantastic, with great chemistry and a wonderful friendship to base their growing romance. There were a few unexpected surprises that I did not see coming, which just adds more depth not only to the characters, but keeps the reader interested in its entirety. Loved the ending as it wrapped up nicely and you get insight as to who is next. I am voluntarily leaving a review for this book that I received free.
