This was a beautifully written story in every way. The domestic violence angle was well written and so very much realistic. Liam and Gena were such heroes to help Tessa the way they did. Wonderful story!! I loved every word!

Beautiful Broken Pieces will keep you captivated and wondering what will happen next from the first page. I knew at the end of the last book that Liam was going to be my favorite out of Walker, Austin and Liam from the previous books Catherine has written (Further to Fall and Beautifully Broken Pieces) I think what I liked most about this book is how real of a past Tessa had and how real she is living her life and how she avoids relationships of any kind. Liam wants to know her more and from her reactions he finds a way to be what she needs and be ok with what she will share. They are the perfect couple because they feel drawn together and have a very good push and pull element to their relationship. After meeting Tessa in Beautifully Broken Pieces we learn why she’s the shy, jumpy baker at the tea house and how Liam is able to help her come out of her shell. Liam is hiding in Sutter Lake from everything in LA including the record label and everyone wanting a piece of him and Tessa is running from a past that has her always watching her back. How will things turn out when a famous rock star wants the small town girl who is hiding from her past and is terrified of being found?

“I was a total goner for a girl I haven’t even kissed” The second book in The Sutter Lake series, Beautiful Broken Life is one of my favorite read this year. So beautiful written. I read it in one sitting. Literally couldn’t put it down. This is the story of Tessa. A woman on the run from a abusive past. She’s a very frightened who keeps to herself and always looking over her shoulders. Loved Tessa. My heart hurt for what she went through and she may have appeared first as fragile, but she was strong and a fighter. She was also sweet and loved her relationship with Phoenix. Liam..he was perfect! The musician hiding from the world he was not confortable being in anymore. Loved how patience he was with Tessa, protective and tender and he has the biggest heart. Every woman needs a Liam in their life. Beautifully written with characters you’ll love and suspenseful. I recommend this authors book to the lovers of Kristen Ashley books. I’ll be looking forward anxiously for the next book in this series. “Don’t dim your light for anyone. Never again.” 6 Beautifully Broken Stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a compelling love story with tension and suspense making it even more exciting. A young woman, Valerie, escapes her nightmare life in Washington, DC. It was physical abuse and verbal torture that finally set her on her new path. With the help of a friend, she changes her appearance, her name, and heads to Oregon. Never relaxed, always ready to flee at a moments notice. She is now Tessa, and lives in Sutter Lake. She bakes for a tea shop owned by a friend, Jensen, and helps her out working at her horse rescue sanctuary, which she loves. Liam is a popular singer, songwriter from LA who is also escaping a tragedy. A fan obsessed with him attempted suicide because he didn’t acknowledge her. He now has serious writers block, and is questioning his life choices. He came to Sutter Lake to be with his best friend Taylor, who we met in Beautifully Broken Pieces. A chance meeting with Tessa sends her into her panic/ hide mode, which makes him want to know more about her. They see each other a lot because of mutual friends, and Tessa becomes more comfortable around him. Liam’s silent muse fill’s his mind with music notes when he is with her. Tessa is letting down her guard little by little, and Liam starts to hear words for his music. But their growing feelings are interrupted by suspicious events that seem to be aimed at Tessa. Has her ex found her? This time she has friends like family to protect her, especially Liam who becomes her personal bodyguard. This romantic suspense novel is filled with small town characters, family and love. Courage, strength and passion fill the pages, and I couldn’t put it down. I had to keep tissues handy for the first and second time I read it! Ms. Cowles stories are always an amazing adventure. Pat Fordyce

My love for this town and these characters knows no bounds. I want to jump in and visit Sutter Lake and meet the people I consider to be my friends even though they’re just book characters. Because well really, they’re not just book characters. Tessa, this woman. There are not adequate enough words to describe her. This woman is one of the strongest, able, beautiful, and amazing person. And that only scratches the surface. She’s one of my all time favorite characters and I couldn’t have been more proud to get to know her through this book. And Liam. He’s special. I can’t tell you how without giving anything away but Liam is one of the best men I’ve read about. I adore him, majorly adore him. You’ll understand why. Meanwhile we get to visit with the other characters we know and love. When I read books by Ms. Cowles I can’t believe this is only her third book. Her writing, it’s like she’s been writing for 20 years. I don’t just read, I fall into the story. And I can’t wait to fall into Sutter Lake again! ❤️
  • So good!

Another fantastic book from Catherine Cowles. Liam and Tessa are both running from different things, but after setting his sights on Tessa, Liam knows he has to know her better. Tessa is guarded, running from an abusive ex, scared that one day he will find her and she will have to leave it all behind. Liam takes his time getting to know her, earning her trust, showing her just how beautiful life can be. He helps her discover her inner strength, and convinces her that she is strong, she is a survivor and she can have the life she's always dreamed about. One of the many things I love about Catherine's writing is that the story isn't rushed. Its a build up, you really get to know these characters, and the character development is one of the best things about her writing. Her stories keep me interested from page 1, always wanting to know what is going to come next.
