Beauty and the Mustache Penny Reid read online review & book description:

There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston: 1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her Amazon kindle one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous— local Game Warden, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself. Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee.

This is a full-length novel, can be read as a standalone.

Loved this book! So good that I could read it again and enjoy it more. Great characters who worked through losing a family member, mended broken relationships, and cherished friends. Loved the dynamic between Ash and Drew. And the poems of love were just icing on the cake. The quotes from famous people at the beginning of each chapter were so spot on to the plot in the chapter. Look forward to reading more from this author. Edna Homar

A hard to put down story of grief, eased by family and friend support and romance. Caring and sharing are the highlights of this tender tale.

5 Stars 🌟 I decided to start this series again, but in audiobook form and I’ve been enjoying it immensely. Penny Reid is definitely my favorite author. I am so glad that I happened to stumble upon on of her books. I totally recommend this amazing read, whether in audiobook, ebook or physical copy. Now this story is about Ashley Winston, it stars out with her abruptly leaving New York & flying back to Green Valley, Tennessee her place of birth. Because her mother is in the hospital and nobody knows why. The life she left behind in Tennessee when she left all those years ago, rears it’s ugly head back again. In the form of her hill billy brother, who made It their mission to make her life a living nightmare. Promising heart break and bad painful memories she doesn’t want to relive EVER. Ashley has a plan, wake up find out what’s wrong with her mother, Fix it and go back to her life of reading and knitting with her girls back in new York. Tennessee has nothing to offer her and she couldn’t wait to leave it behind again. But all that is threatened when she has a run in with the real life Viking of a man - DREW RUNOS - after an awkward encounter that ends with her petting his man nipples. She can’t help but fall for him and after receiving life changing news. His gentle quiet nature seems to be just what she needs. But under all that quiet, is a man who loves to write poetry and can’t stop melting her butter ( favorite quote ever). Not to mention that her brothers seem to not be the uncivilized, wild boys that they were all those years ago. But happen to all have jobs and some even own their own business. With that in mind Ashley has a roller coaster of emotions and Tennessee turns out to be nothing she expected/ I just loved everything about those two, I think that penny couldn’t of chosen a better pair to belong together. This book literally made me cry multiple times, but it brought so much happiness to me as well. I think that this book is my favorite out of all the books she has written, because I’m so glad she introduced the Winston brothers. I couldn’t help but fall in love with penny’s writing.

I love Penny Reid’s books: knitting in the city and Winston brothers. Characters are smart, humorous, and relatable. Great dialogue, easy read, and fun.
