The Hating Game Sally Thorne read online review & book description:

USA Today Bestseller!

Debut author Sally Thorne bursts on the scene with a hilarious and sexy workplace comedy all about that thin, fine line between hate and love.

Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.

                       2) A person’s undoing

                       3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

Romance novels with good tension and banter between H and h are always a hit for me. Both characters are funny , sexy and likable with steady growth and understanding. Some explicit sex but definitely not the major part of the story line and relationship.

I will summarize by saying I just love josh and Lucy so much! Omg I wish I could read it for the first time all over again. This is one of those books that holds a soft spot in your heart and you always want to re-read a crazy amount. Man I really hope the movie does it justice. Sally Thorne I love you.

Amazing banter, many steamy scenes, cute ending, your heart strings will pull at many of the lines, and even through I wasn’t into office romances this WAS PERFECT.

Witty, Sweet, Sexy, and Smart— These words could describe the main characters or the entire book itself. Wonderfully slow-burn pacing, deliciously eloquent writing, and hot romance. What more could you want from a book? I’ve never read a book where I could feel the love as palpable as I did while reading this. The yearning, the passion, and the quick wit.. I constantly felt like I was interrupting a genuine private moment between Lucy and Josh. I couldn’t stop myself from turning the pages, I laughed (cackled), cried (sobbed), and found myself not wanting the story to end! Loved this book, can’t wait to read more from Sally Thorne.

It was a light—fun romantic book, I did enjoy the character development and the idea of competing in a game ending in love as a winner.

If you want to get caught looking like an idiot, smiling while reading a book (basically throughout the entirety of it), this is the one for you. My all time favorite book was Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover (who am I kidding, all her books are amazing), but The Hating Game quickly took that #1 spot. I could not put it down, I read it in less than 12 hours nearly nonstop, and never wanted it to end. The banter between these two characters is hilarious, the slow(ish) burn built anticipation and angst, but I never became frustrated wanting to rush to the “good part”. The entire book is the good part. Seriously, read this. Right now. But only if you have a day to spare... good luck putting this one down. 😉
