Top Ten Tuesday: Top Film Adaptations I Want to Watch

November 10, 2015 Features 10

toptentuesday.jpgTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week, the theme is ten book to movie adaptations that you’re looking forward to or ones that you still need to watch. I’m basically doing a combination of both because there are upcoming movies that I’m looking forward to, but also three movies that are released but I haven’t watched them yet.

1. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

I figured that I would start off with this one since it’s one that is released, but I haven’t seen yet. I was super bummed that the movie was a limited release because those movies hardly ever come to my small city. Anyway, now that it’s on DVD, I should definitely be watching this any day now!

2. Room

This literally just came out on November 6th, but I’m so excited for it. The book was ridiculously intense, but I’m looking forward to how the actors brought this story to life. This also has a limited release so I may have to hold off until it eventually comes out on DVD which I’m pretty sad about!

3. Insurgent

Not going to lie, it took me FOREVER just to see the first Divergent film. I read the trilogy (in three days if I’m being honest) probably about a few weeks or so before this one came out in theatres. Somehow, I missed it and now it’s out on DVD. It’s coming to HBO soon, so I’ll likely catch it that way.

Unreleased films that I’m looking forward to:

4. Eleanor & Park

If I’m being honest, I’m not sure if this film is EVER going to happen. I first heard about it when I read the book during my senior year of high school, which was two years ago. Rainbow Rowell has addressed it recently and she’s the screenwriter on the project, but I’m still not positive if it’ll ever happen.

5. Thirteen Reasons Why

This has been optioned as a film for awhile now. But at the end of October, there was a confirmation that Selena Gomez among others have worked out a deal to turn this into a mini-series. I don’t think Selena Gomez is right for Hannah, but that’s just me. A big part of me hopes that if she is involved with the project, she’ll just stay on as a producer.

6. The Selection

This is another one that has been in the works for quite awhile but no serious moves have been made. I know there was a pilot on CW that fell through, but that’s about it. I personally think it would make for a decent movie if they could bring to life all of the different elements to it.

7. Looking For Alaska

I don’t understand why this has yet to be made into a movie. I mean, this was John Green’s debut novel and two of his other works have already been adapted for the big screen so I think it’s long overdue for this one to show up there as well.

8. Mockingjay Part 2

This one is cheating in comparison to the last several books that are just in the works of being made into the film, nothing is definitive for the majority of them. However, this one is beyond definitive, since it’s coming out in 10 days! I couldn’t leave it off because I’m just so excited to see what changes that they make (hopefully not many) when they adapt it.

So that’s my list for the week. Be sure to share with me your list, I’d love to see what answers you came up with for this topic!

I definitely want to watch Room at some point. The book was intense and I’m intrigued to see what they’ve done with it. Good list!

Great choices, I would love to see Eleanor and Park adapted to movie too, but I would be so worried they wouldn’t get the characters right! Room was a difficult read for me – not because it wasn’t good but the subject is so sad. My TTT

  3. Jazmin Jade

I have yet to see Insurgent yet either, I will get to it one day… I heard about the confirmation for Thirteen Reasons Why. I don’t know how I feel about it, I didn’t mind the book but I didn’t like Hannah so we shall see.

I did not know that The Selection is coming out! That just made my day! I read the book last year and loved it– I have, yet, to read the rest of the series but I will most definitely be watching that movie! I haven’t seen Insurgent yet either. I am also just waiting for it to be on HBO. Happy reading and watching!
